The Stylist's Notebook
For each of our campaign shoots, we’ve found that we stumble upon our best styling ideas in the moment, unexpectedly discovering the real ways in which we’d wear each piece. For Prelude, we gravitated towards a coastal-inspired ease, influenced by the laid-back sentiment that time spent by the seaside offers. Read on for a few of our favorite styling moments from the shoot, from the nautical-inspired trousers we were reaching for again and again to our rekindled love affair with a pointelle twin set.
A BRIGHT WHITE TROUSER
Pairing effortlessly with everything from striped Breton tees and pastel-colored alpaca knits to suede jackets, the tailored cotton-twill Lisa Pant in Salt—a favorite of our co-founder Katherine—proves to be a classic seasonal staple.
A ‘JUST-IN-CASE’ LAYER
On cooler days, we’re prone to adding a ‘just-in-case’ layer to each of our outfits—a cozy sweater or jacket tied around or at the shoulders, a trusty companion should you need a dash of extra warmth.
MONOCHROME DRESSING
While styling Prelude, we loved an all-black look accented with a bright vintage headscarf, or the high contrast lent by a wide-leg white trouser when paired with just about anything.
THE NEW SWEATER SET
For a little texture play, we find ourselves reaching for light short-sleeved pointelle knits and cardigans for a modern twinset feel.
