Holly McCauley and Della on New South Wales Living and Friendship

Here at DÔEN, we have a strong appreciation for friendships. We are a company built by and for women - our partners are dear friends from our past and present. Hilary Tisch, a creative consultant and founding partner, has been a friend of KK's since age seventeen. Katy, our partner and general counsel, is a more recent friendship started at an art show and then solidified at a book club. In the spirit of celebrating friendship, we are so excited to be doing a two part series with Holly McCauley and her dear friend Amelia Fullerton. Amelia shot these images on film in Byron Bay, a beautiful beachside town in Australia we're currently planning to visit on a company trip. Holly and Amelia are both creatives and mothers (Holly works as an art director at Smack Bang Designs and designs books and styles in her spare time) who are as close as family, and they are taking turns shooting each other with their little ones for our Journal. See below for Amelia's text and images of Holly and her adorable daughter Della and stay tuned for the feature which Holly shot and wrote on Amelia.

"I remember meeting Holly when we were probably 17 and thinking this girl is so sweet and softly spoken, I could take a page out of her book. I think I might have been the friend that was the bad influence, but she was the friend who my Mum loved me hanging out with. She was and is, equal parts beautiful on the inside, as she is on the outside. An inner light radiates so brightly through her. And while her sweet was what I saw at first, it was her sting that made me sure we would be great friends. The Scorpion sauce that you just have to keep pouring. She takes on life with the perfect balance of cool and calm. She is humble, artful and incredibly good at what she does. What I love so much about our friendship is how she pushes me to keep searching, to keep creating. What I've loved even more is seeing her become a Mum to Della. When she was pregnant and eight days overdue I kept thinking, "how is she so okay about this, I'm not okay". I was impatient and wanted to meet her baby. She was totally fine! I admired her patience and trust in her body throughout pregnancy and labour. But, that's just Holly. I don't think there is anything nicer really then watching your best friends become Mums, to know you know what their heart is feeling at that time. To see it exploding into tiny little pieces just as yours did the day you first laid eyes on your newborn. But, also to have those friends to say how fucking hard being a Mum can be, who you know you can be your true self around and to know that no matter what you're always going to have each other. To truly, truly have each other. Now that, that is something special."
