Drinks, Bites, and Dancing - Benefiting Planned Parenthood

DÔEN Holiday Fundraiser for Planned Parenthood, photographed by Darcy Hemley

This year has been an emotional one on many levels. We launched a company, moved offices more than once, made new friends, built a community we feel proud of and committed to - and so much more. There were highs and lows along the way, but we’re closing out the year with feelings of gratitude and love for all of our friends, family and customers who have supported us and our mission. The end of the year has especially been a low point; the election truly shook us up. We strive to be a company with a voice, holding our standards high for ourselves and everyone. This year, as with every year, we tried to use our voices to stand up for what we believe in, and through these turbulent waters one thing we have learned is everyone DOES have a voice. Standing Rock inspired us by demonstrating that people coming together for a cause can create change.

To close out the year we wanted to give back in a different way while also celebrating 2016. We decided to host a Holiday Fundraiser benefitting Planned Parenthood, an organization near and dear to our hearts. The party was held at Winsome in Echo Park, a restaurant that graciously partnered with us for our cause. We had a great night filled with yummy food, drinks, dancing, and music, with catching up with new friends and old ones. It was magical seeing so many people we love in one place gathered to support a bigger cause. As we step into the new year, we are most excited about the Women's March on Washington, taking place on January 21st 2017. Many of our collective members are going (including myself and MK) and I couldn't feel more passionate about a single day, event and cause. We are sending everyone in our community love and warmth this holiday season. We are here to support one another and you all do have a voice. 2017 will be our year - new DÔEN collections, new beginnings, and a more empowered self, one who isn't going to sit back but stand up for things we feel are important and worth believing in.
