Cuba Photo Journal by Elizabeth Antonia

Cuba Photo Journal by Elizabeth Antonia, Photographed by Darcy Hemley

Since beginning the DÔEN journey we’ve been inspired to do what we do by our women peers. Seeing the strength, beauty, passion, intellect and creativity of our extended community of women drives us to make a product that attempts to complement that energy and beauty. In motherhood, we have always respected and admired Elizabeth's words, and the way she captured her experiences with motherhood were an inspiration and something we designed around. Her tone is something that resonates with us, both on her blog and social media. We feel so lucky to have her in our DÔEN community and we we're over the moon that she agreed to do a photo journal on her trip sans kids to Cuba recently. Read and see more below.

"We really wanted to visit Cuba before routes from the United States opened up and jumped at the chance to visit with friends. Originally we were going to bring our girls as we always travel with them (they've been all over the world with us) but my parents offered to take them for a week of "Grandparents Camp!" in San Diego. How could I say no?! I definitely consider this trip to Cuba as a reconnaissance mission though and really hope to travel back with the girls soon. The architecture and the colors are one thing but the wonderful people and culture really make this place unforgettable. Music is everywhere and the Cuban spirit is strong and as warm as the ocean breeze off the Malecón."
