JOURNAL
Jessica and Malia
Being an only child, I have always loved to surround myself with sisters, gravitating towards that special dynamic that exists only in sisterhood. Growing up, one of my best friends was one of four siblings, 2 of which were sisters. I always loved the spirit of their relationship, and marveled at the energy that existed between them. Like three born best friends, fighting was intense but ended fast and love was deep. It somehow felt only natural for me to work for Margaret and Katherine - sisters who support each other, drive each other, and most of all, inspire each other. Entering into their world felt like something much bigger than entering into a work relationship: it felt like entering into a family, into a sisterhood.
When I first encountered sisters Jessica and Malia on Instagram, I recognized in them exactly that magical sisterly bond that I have always admired and sought out. Jessica, a successful model, and Malia, a talented jewelry artist, are two of a kind: natural, creative, and free-spirited. They are incredibly close in the sweetest way. Quiet, loving, and connected, the two are perfectly in sync. Much of their time together is spent in the stunning countryside of Hawaii, where they both have houses (just down the road from each other!). We are endlessly inspired by the love that they share, and by the way they seem to move through life together, so when we found out that both are pregnant (their due dates are within 3 days of each other!) we knew that we needed to feature them on our journal. They represent everything we love and value: family, beauty, nature. They care deeply about their surroundings, and about the people they surround themselves with. See below for images taken by Malia's husband on an unseasonably hot fall day in Malia/Jess's Topanga home, where the air was filled with the sweet scents of sage and palo santo and where we plucked fresh citrus straight from the tree.
