The DÔEN Scrapbook

Under The Tropézienne Sun

The idyllic coastal town of Saint-Tropez—once a quaint fishing village—has blossomed into a sun-kissed coastal playground fragranced by the mingling scents of freshly baked croissants and the briny tang of the sea. In a three-story workshop nestled on Route des Plages the family-run footwear brand endures after being launched in 1933 by Armenian refugees Jacques and Elise Keklikian. The tradition of designing leather sandals for visitors, locals, and movie stars is one that’s upheld today, embodying the sun-drenched spirit of Saint-Tropez with every step.

This special collaboration collection reflects a capsule summer shoe wardrobe: a thong sandal, a T-strap sandal, a fisherman, and a lace-up. At once timeless and nostalgic, these sandals—like everything we do—are meant to be loved and lived in for years to come.

“It’s a family-run, heritage brand that creates true heirlooms.”

— Margaret & Katherine Kleveland

By Hand

“It’s a family-run, heritage brand that creates true heirlooms,” explains our co-founders Margaret and Katherine Kleveland, who visited the team in Saint-Tropez to work alongside them on early designs of our collaboration styles. With Katherine’s daughter Prairie in tow, they learned more about the sandal-making process, where no less than 28 artisan hands touch each pair of K. Jacques as they make their way through the Saint-Tropez workshop.

The leather is sourced from France, Spain, or Italy. This exacting, multi-step process involves hot stamping the logo onto the footbed, cutting the upper pieces and linings, stitching, attaching rivets, assembly, and waxing and polishing each sandal before it makes its way to you.
