Studio Dream World With Patricia Iglesias

Patricia Iglesias, Photography by Heather Moore

Patricia Iglesias’ Brooklyn studio is a world unto itself, full of magic and creative energy. From the large-scale paintings that cover the walls, to the table of half-used paints and shelves of treasured art books, every inch of space is a reflection of the free-flowing, artistic force that Patricia is. An artist in the true sense of the word, Patricia is inquisitive, worldly, and deeply fascinated by all that surrounds her – seeking beauty in every moment, and every corner.

Her works (ranging from paintings and drawings to clay sculptures) seem to flow from her effortlessly, guided by an innate sense for color, composition, and beauty that few possess. Honest and personal, her works glow with the very same warmth and vivacity that she herself exudes. We are so thrilled that in a week we get to travel to Savannah, Georgia with Patricia for our Summer '19 shoot, where she will be transferring her artistry and inspiration to our shoot for hair and makeup. See below for a glimpse into Patricia’s incredibly inspiring and beautiful world, and for a list of her favorite art books (she is full of knowledge about artists and art history!).

"To me, books are occasions; they have a physicality about them that we can relate to, but most importantly, as the Argentine writer Borges explained it, 'A library is a kind of magic chamber in which there are many enchanted spirits. They wake when we call them.' A book is a physical object in a world full of dead symbols, and when the right reader comes along a resurrection takes place. A book is, in short, the contact between two realms."
